Admiral Northstar makes his debut

This is Admiral Northstar. He is a mythological figure along the lines of Smokey the Bear, Paul Bunyan and Officer Macgruff. Namely, a folk tradition purposefully created for the goal of spreading a message. Rather than discouraging arson, supporting a burgeoning lumber industry or letting kids know that they can find a safe place if they need it, Admiral Northstar leads a valiant campaign against the ignorance propagated by blind faith in federalism. He roams the lands of the upper midwest (with his faithful commander 'Fieldmarshall Hiawatha') spreading wisdom about the promised blessings of secession. This photoshoot represents the first incarnation of the Midwest Movement in terms of folk mythology in the 21st century. It's become clear that in these days of cheap and effective media creation that ideas and figures such as Admiral Northstar can take on unimaginable momentum and truly develop a mythos of their own within the collective consciousness of both the Upper Midwest and the rest of the global citizenry under the United Nations. So, needless to say we'd love to hear your own stories about Admiral Northstar, but we're not expecting too much at this point. We'll keep doing our best to promote Minnesotan secession and federal devolution more generally, and please let us know if you want to get involved as well."

a bold new future

We find it to be self-evident that the representative democracy of the United States of North America has failed. Even citizens of this wealthy militaristic powerhouse suffer a below-par and worsening public education system and cities consumed with poverty. A nation which historically owes its strength to a consistent influx of immigrants is shutting down its borders to willing workers and families wishing to pursue the mythical American Dream.
This is unacceptable.

The military obligations imposed upon citizens of the upper Midwest by the federal government of the United States are a real and unnecessary cost. Our ties to such a militaristic and closed power must be severed so that Minnesotans and our neighbors can live in a future filled with diversity, prosperity and a genuine commitment to equality.

If the limitations of the federal government refuse to acknowledge the legitimacy of secession for Minnesota, we must ask why, and then we must ask what we can do about it. For now we must spread the word through songs and jokes and the act of living and we hope that this is something you might want to be involved in.

Who knows, we definitely live in interesting times and it looks like a bold new future for humanity is coming in some strange way, but one thing's for sure. We ought to have a government that we are genuinely proud of.
